Statement & Bio

Lauren Beauchner brings her love of vivid colors, patterns, and material experimentation to her expressive & narrative portraiture. Her intention with her subjects is to convey a relaxed moment in their story and weave them into her body of work as a supporting character in her ever-evolving world. Her subjects' frequent visual engagement with the viewer suggests a paused moment with Lauren and their own comfortable awareness of their presence in front of an audience. Their varying application of paint strives to have the viewer pulled in and out of different degrees of depth ; using fully realized faces and fabrics to contrast elements of the environment flattened out with thick and blocky palette knife work.
